Yesterday, Intel released its fastest server and workstation processors ever at a power level we haven't seen in several years. At what point does new desktop technology outstrip second hand servers?

I've been looking at picking up a second hand Dell Poweredge (dual processor) to run a small web application on. But with the money I've got, I'm looking at a dual PIII 500Mhz Dell PowerEdge - are there any desktop solutions that will give me the same 'power' for equivalent value.

thanks.

if you're not afraid to, I'd build it myself...

buy good boards like the VP6 and plop in
the two PIII 500s. What kind of apps are
you looking at running? Maybe you can get
away with running Celerons.

Intel Components, AMD Components... all made in Taiwan!
