YASD: Gehennom is hell

So I finally got the first character after my YAFAP to the quest.
Obviously I was much too excited about the progress of this samurai,
which made me play with less and less care. For instance, I had gathered
gold from throughout the dungeon to buy me 10 Points of AC in minetown,
and immediately after that sacrificed a nurse. Then I got myself an
angelic pet (forgot which kind) to retrieve the gold and bring it to the
valley. At my next sacfest I offered a werewolf. But here comes the real
shocker:

I had just retrieved the amulet and was on my way up through gehennom.
Had some nasty fights with arch-liches, when rodney reappeared. I was
typing quite fast and not reading all of the messages, when suddenly a
DYWYPI jumped into my face. Huh? Upon examination, obviously I was
killed by Rodneys touch of death. I _had_ a CoMR, I _had_ an "oLS around
my neck (and two in the BoH), I _had_ 15+ /oDeath charges with rodneys
name on them. I just thought I'd save on them and poke Rodney with my
blades a little. AND I must have missed both my CoMR and my "AoLS
getting burned somehow, probably during the fights with the Liches.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

I'm off banging my head against a wall now.

That's what I was wandering myself. The foocubus is probably the only
realistic solution.
