Microsoft has required the OEMs to use bios to only allow Microsoft to be loaded otherwise no windows. This part of there new "anti virus" program. Most OEMs are locked in so if you want to run Linux etc ask before you buy. It is getting hard to find PC or Laptop that does not have Microsoft locked in.

More about : laptop install

Hi :)

Sorry but you are wrong.... if it was true Microsoft would be fined by the US Government and the EU....

All the best Brett :)

You will be able to install and boot other OS'es while leaving Secure Boot enabled. Fedora and Canonical have already outlined their approaches for their respective Linux distributions. They are detailed here:

Brett is right too. If Microsoft tried to lock things down that much and not let users install another OS on hardware they've purchased, the US government and the EU would be all over them.
