Tualatin Prices???

Hi,

Just for reference, very sketchy indicators of a price on what I _think_ may be a tualatin CPU. Prices in Japan are running JPY49,999 for what is described as a 1.13G PIII FCPGA chip. For comparison the cheapest P4-1.7 is currently JPY41,280.

I say I think because it does not mention specifically that it is a tualatin but I cannot imagine prices still being in for the broken coppermine 1.13G...

The site is <A HREF="http://www.kakaku.com/pc2/" target="_new">Japanese Version of Pricewatch</A>

Pete.

Wow! a little suprised to see a guy in this forum read kakaku.com, the most polular price list site in Japan. this list usually represents prices mainly in Akihabara, Akihabara enjoys a tradition to get the latest hardware at the first hand, even before its official release, the price of a pre-release product is always at a freakin' price
remember the first C800/w 100 fsb? the first appearance of this crap is priced 25000 jpy, compared to a 22000 jpy PIII 800 just sitting nearby...how do you react when you relize it's not in a dream??? But in Japan some maniac seems to be never frightened by even a heaven-high price...

Wow! I went to the companies website, and they had a picture of a PC that looks just like a <A HREF="http://www.myspec.com/images/PC/monster.jpg" target="_new">BLENDER</A>!

Yes! It is a Taluatin! See the sales page <A HREF="http://www.myspec.com/default.asp?cnt=shopping&category=030507&gsw=0&sort=" target="_new">HERE</A>
And not JUST a Taluatin, but a 512K Taluatin!

Where do they get these things? Is it just a test sample that someone snuck on to the market? Or is this an early production sample? If it's an early production sample, we can expect it on the U.S. market in just a few weeks!

Dang! I tried to order 151 of these (150 for a potential customer and 1 for me!), but they would not accept an order that large. So I went for 101 of them, but found out that the order form is not arranged for international shipping!

As zaar said, we get all the new toys earlier (but not always cheaper) than everyone else. Well, almost all the new toys. Chance are that this is the first production run.

Akihabara in Tokyo is the beta and sometimes alpha testing ground of the world - you would not believe some of the stuff that comes out here at times, much of which never makes it to general distribution. You can guarentee that in a few days or so there will be links to a tualatin submerged in LN2 at 200FSB or something ridiculous. The Japanese really know how to stress test a product...

Judging by the Tyan K7 duall AMD board I'd estimate 3-4 weeks before we see tualatin in the US - probably somewhere around the $250-$300 level I'd guess - but that is pure speculation. Expect the coppermines to get very cheap very quick!

If the Tualatin prices are as speculated, then that is another nail in the coffin for Intel.

1.13ghz Tualitan at $400 vs 1.1ghz Tbird at $95. No brainer for price/performance.

Hopefully the US prices will be more in line with the AMD products, or Intel is in for another rough year.

This is the frist place IN THE WORLD selling these, as far as we know. We can't really trust the prices.

Actually, with the Mobile version also on the market, I expect some companies like Kingston, Zues, and Evergreen to mount mobile processors on a PCB with a few resistors and sell it as an overdrive for Coppermine compatable systems.

do you reckon that is do-able with the new mobo requirements - is it just a voltage issue and how do you cool it?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and just GUESS that it might work on a regular PIII mobo, but would be out of spec (too much voltage on one line, like 1.7v instead of 1.5). OF coarse someone will make a Slotket for Slot 1 mobos. I hear that they will be releasing a 1.1GHz version with 100MHz FSB, which would be great-overclocking to 1466 just by raising the FSB to 133! Powerleap is very adept at socket converters, so they will probably have on for $50 as well (their usual price for adapters). What's really interesting is the possibility of the mobile version being available at even lower speeds for the 100MHz bus, simply because it has a lower power requirement than the Coppermine. If the pin arrangement for the mobile is the same, it would be great for overclockers as well.

unlike you some ppl prefer to pay for stability and performance as a Tualatin will rip a new a-hole into a tbird so fast: it won't have time to burn out!

now you show me a tbird beating a tualatin,(even if you have to pull it out of your a$$!) come on now I'm waiting.

The stock Tualatin is definitly not competative with the stock TBird. You have to overclock the hell out of it to even come close (and it still gets beat in many marks).

LOL! he said AN EQUALLY SETUP TUALATIN! up against a tbird.

I should've made myself clearer and I've should've known you zealots would try and put a spin on this.
