Computer doesnt see printer

Hello,
I have a canon printer with the disk. I can download the driver up to the part that says plug in your printer. When I plug in my printer, the computer doesnt see it and I get the three tones from plugging something in to the usb port thats not seen. Please advise, thanks.

Have you tried a different USB port ? A different USB cable ? Are your USB controller drivers up to date ?
