Intel has bought Alpha from Compaq! The only yP that could stand to Itannium's performance is abandonated! The developemnt for Alpha was almost stopped some 2 years ago when Compaq bought Digital - and still the performance of Alpha is higher (in integer area and flops - peak). This is a trully amaizing processor. I think it is very bad that it will dissapear. Intel will create a very powerfull monopolly.

i'm laughing too, intel is buying such old tech when AMD will simply move to an other platform (possibly nvida will provide such a solution along with hypertransport style bus)

dont worry about meltdown, he's just a 'angry young man' who, over time, will grow up (into what ??? who fuc|ng knows)

however, we all start at the end and finish at the begining
