I am looking to get a new monitor, but am perplexed at which to get... I have been looking at the ASUS VE248H and the VS247H, but I am not sure which one is going to be better... any thoughts? and is there anything else I should be looking at around the same price?

VS247H: http://www.amazon.com/Asus-VS247H-P-24-Inch-Full-HD-Monitor/dp/B005BZNDS0/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1357153350&sr=1-1

Well firstly I love the ASUS monitors I've purchased. As for which to get all it comes down to is really if you need speakers or not. Although the second has a slightly better contrast. Since I don't need speakers I would chose this one.

Yeah, so I don't really care about the speakers, but on the VS I have seen conflicting info that leads me unsure of whether it is really a 2ms display or not... I should have added that I will probably be doing a fair amount of gaming on it (ARPGs and FPSs...)

If you can spare $300 the Korean 27" 1440p monitors are totally worth it. I have two of them and I love them. If you decide to go this route make sure to research them well because there are a few things to watch out for.

most of the monitors out there are not true 2MS but great enough to remove the ghosting issue. The VS series is claimed to have an cheap IPS panel, so get the VS if you don't care about the speakers. I have the VE 23'' and it's great actually, speakers sucks by the way.

Well, in my understanding the VE248H should have similar colours to the VE278Q, which I absolutely love. The VE247H has a bit of a black washout, but otherwise colour reproduction is pretty good.

The latter apparently has some problems with ghosting though - I couldn't tell you, I'm only using it as a secondary monitor.
