Will a HDD with Vista's OS migrate onto a Win 7 computer

Can a HDD that has documents and pictures I would like to save, that also has windows vista on it and move it to a Win 7 computer reformat the HDD I want to recover?

You should be able to access the data if you put it into another computer but be sure to get your data BEFORE reformatting the drive or you may be out of luck.

cake if there a drive in the system that has windows 7 on it and you add this one it will show up as another hard drive if the drive is working fine. then you should be able to copy your photos over to the new drive. then wipe the old drive and use it as a storage drive. if the old drive going to be the boot drive and then upgraded to windows 7 or wiped after the old data is off. you have to try and boot into safe mode f8 and then remove all the old mb device drivers. if not the old vista install going to crash or get stuck into a reboot loop. a lot of people use there network and turn on file sharing and drag and drop the files over there network. (if they have the new and old working).
