I am currently looking for the final part of my build: the monitor. I am looking for a good quality 1920x1080 HD Monitor that uses IPS technology. Preferably 23", needs to be able to be wall mounted. I was looking at these two so far:

I like the look of both monitors, and they are both wall mountable. Both have a response time of 5ms, is this OK for smooth gaming at a high framerate?

Also, the LG has a contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1, and the ASUS has a CR of 80,000,000:1. Is the much higher CR of the ASUS a big selling point? Will it look much sharper than the LG? I really need some help deciding as I don't know much about monitors. Thanks in advance :) .

I would go with the LG , I have had a LG monitor (27") and the picture was great and well defined. I recently sold it because I wanted a 30" and LG didn't have one available so I had to go with HP , but if LG had one I would have gotten it.

Generally speaking 5ms response times should be fine. It is not an exact number anyway. Not many people would be able to distinguish 5ms from 2ms.

CR of that high ratios are more or less meaningless. That is actually Dynamic Contrast Ratio which varies the brightness and contrast of the monitor based on what is being displayed on the screen. Dark scenes causes the monitor to lower brightness and increase contrast while bright scenes causes the opposite. I find it extremely annoying. I disabled Dynamic Contrast on my HDTV and one of my monitors that has it; Asus VK246H.
