Should we be glad about the comming of the nFORCE chipset or should we be worried.
Microsoft sets up nVidia as the 3Dcard maker----
Then nVIDIA and AMD become a perfect couple ----
Then microsoft - nvidia - amd become the perfect trio ---

Have you already thought about their monopoly position after this major partnership. I'm thinking at special versions of Windows which can only run on a AMD machine or even worse: protected stuff that won't run anything else than the Micro$oft [-peep-]. -----> say goodbeye to unix or linux
need I say more ????????

AMD has only capacity to supply less than 30% of the market. So No I dont think so.

Things can change quite fast in the IT bus
Take a look at 3Dfx .....

You might want to think about another kind of monopoly. In nForce is as good as expected, what will stop nVidia from designing their own CPU as well? After all, the GForce3 is more complex then either the Athlon or the P4. Who knows? We may have another player in the CPU market as well.

AMD will soon (probably) be building a new plant in Austin TX, so that should be boosted.

yes thats right BUT their old fab in texas is outdated too.
however going to 0,13 micron and bigger waffers should help. But they will not be able to satisfy all of the market in the next few years.

you know what.. i like that idea... nvidia cpu's ... more compitition ya know? and and inovation! i love inovation.. imagine... your graphics GPU tangled together with your cpu! no more graphics cards and bandwidth limitations as the CPU could have 64MB of the fastest eram (is it eram? the new kind of ram that is faster then sram?) ... why not 64? use 3d cpus instead of 2d .. it is possible ... maybe.. it would be cool though!

Lets see the Radeon 2 will be more complex then the Geforce3 if i forgot. Wait here's something Graphic chips are not based on x86 techonolgy. Making there platform where cpu companys are faced to work with a old core. Well IA64 will kill the x86 and move on into the day of super computing.

Nice Intel and AMD users get a Cookie.... Yummy

i can't wait for the all in wonder radeon 2!!! i'm soo buying it when it comes out and giving my all in wonder one to my dad. when do you think the all in wonder radeon 2 will be out? i hope before christmas!

anywho...

i hope they kill the IRQ's too.. that is soo stupid... along with the 640k limit..

Actually, NVidia's release of nForce is brilliant. Although it sucks right now, there is no point b/c it is expensive, yet the built in video card isn't good. However, with the release of QDR RAM @ 533MHz next year, you can kiss video cards goodbye. nForce was more or less like Intel's release of RDRAM for P3- it was expensive and made the P3 worse performer, however then came out P4. With nForce and QDR, imagine the possibilities- a GF3 Ultra processor and 512MB QDR to use! That would be extremely powerful, and I don't see why NVidia wouldn't make a different version of the GF3 to be the main processor.

sweet! plenty of time to wait a little while to let prices drop

Not going to happen because Microsoft's corporate steamroller would never cut themselves out of all the profit involved in selling to intel users. Hypathetically, even if Intel were to go bust today, there's countless pc's out there with Intel chips, and we all know how microsoft loves to push the upgrades.

AMD a monopoly ? just because of a mere chipset that no one has even seen or tested ? Get real.

I'd be happy already if AMD/Nvidia could keep intel from being a true monopoly, but even that is doubtfull. Nvidia has no reason to help AMD, if they can design a state of the art chipset for Athlon, Im sure they can do the same thing for P4. Guess what would make them the most money ? They are already in bed with Intel with the X-Box.
