I finally broke down and bought it and so far I love it. The only problem is my system can’t handle it, The game runs very choppy at times. My system is an AMD 1 gig with a Geforce2 MX, so I think it’s about time to upgrade the video card. I was thinking of a Radian 8500. If someone knows of a better card (around $150) or a hot deal on the net let me know.

The other thing was dose someone have a link to some mods. I heard there was a cussing mod. Also a cheat code for getting all the weapons would be nice, some times you just want to kill all the people you can :) Despite my best efforts I can only get up to 4 stars.

GTA3 is a dam fine game! It certainly has plenty to keep you at the keyboard for hours and hours. Whether you just like driving around and stealing cars, doing crazy jumps for cash, doing rampages, picking up hookers, or just plain killing everything that moves, then this is the game for you.

It's still early days for pc mods to be surfacing, but I would keep an eye on the following:-

For around $150 you can get one of the new GF4 cards, which will offer much better performance than the 8500. Check out the video forum for which one you should get.

Hey all, Game copy world has a no CD fix and it works. Also saw a blood mod but haven’t tried it out yet.

Make sure you get it, the crack, from game copy world and you get the right one though. Because i had a problem with one crack that i got and it would not let me load my saved games.

For you're comp, I'd go for a R8500LE. I know there's one on newegg.com for $99 and it also has 3.3ns RAM. I don't know if they ran out of that batch, but it's still a good deal.

My firewall tastes like burning. :eek:

i fired this baby up a couple weeks ago and this game is AWESOME. it runs great on my 1.2TB/GF2-GTS. right now im stuck on the mission where you have to race the 3 other cars thru the 1st city. its hard as heck....

Yea, you have to get a fast car! The best one is in the used car showroom next to 8 ball’s. Break the glass by driving a car through or just shoot it.

the easiest way to pass this mission is to steal couple of trucks and block the 1st turn just up the road where the 3 cars will turn, now all you need 2 do is 2 drive as fast as you can but careful not 2 flip your ride.

Don't even bother with the race, it's pointless. There's another, different race later that's more fun.

BTW, for those who don't know, there are two spots at the harbor to take cars. One takes emergency vehicles (ambulance, fire truck, police car, SWAT van, FBI car, flatbed and tank), and if you get all of those delivered (just did that last night), then you can get any of those for free whenever you want.

The other area (right next to it) has a door with a list of cars written on it. I'm not sure what you get when you deliver all the cars, but I'll finish it tonight (I have the last car, just haven't made it back to there yet) and let you know.

To get there, go to the harbor and look for two ships. One is right of the entrance, the other is at a 90 degree angle on the left side of the entrance. You'll see two areas with yellow stripes on the ground. The one in the open closest to the ship is where you take the emergency vehicles, the other is a bit further away from the ship (very close to it), up against a door.

I finally beat that first race, just had to steal a police car for it, took around 4 tries.

The itsy bitsy spider climbed up the empires state building, along came goblin, wiped the spider out

well, after i had a taste of the game on my friends comp, i fianlly decided to get a copy for myself. but my question is, will i be able to run the game @ 1024x768x16 and get a good frame rate? 50+ is my standard. my friend owns a monster system, 1 gig system ram, GF4 Ti4600.. P4 2.4...etc
obviosuly the game runs flawlessly on his system
my system specs are the following

Xp1.6
MSI K7T266 Pro2RU mobo
256mb DDR266( Legend Cas2 )
Radeon 8500 Retail oc@285/285
40G 7200rpm hdisk
SB live 5.1 DE
Win98se
and the rest... CDRom.. floppy.. etc

so any idea what kinda frame rate i would be expecting on this medium performance system? could thoese who plays this game post their average fps and their basic system specs?, ie cpu, graphics card, os and ram .thanx heaps.

there is no reason a gf2 wont run gta3. i looked last night and my res was set at 1024x768x32 and i have a gf2-gts like i posted ealier. i dont know what my fps is but i dont get any skipping or stalls unless i have other progs running in the backgound. this is on a win98 system with a 1.2tb and 256mb of ram.
