Does anyone know if I can run both Win 98 and XP on the same Hard drive. Something like a selection during post start up, " do you wish Win 98 or XP. I am a bit of a newbee to all this, but I have a couple of programs that I need to run in 98 but prefer XP to run all else. I could upgrade the software but is about $600us, last thought is to stick with 98. any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can likely run the programs in XP in Win98 compatability mode. It is possible to run multiple operating systems and the system will in fact prompt you to choose which to boot, but I don't know the exact procedure to get 98 and XP functioning on the same machine.

Yes, you can and it's called DualBoot. Install Win98 first into Primary partition, then WinXP (select New Installation (Advanced) in WinXP setup menu). Although Win 98 and XP can be installed in same patition, but it is not recommended to prevent more headaches later. Put them in separate partition.

 Good or Bad have no meaning at all, depends on what your point of view is.
Edited by khha4113 on 01/08/03 06:56 PM.

Partition a blank HDD, install W98 one the 1st partition then install XP on the second partition... I guarantee it will work (its what I have) quite stable

note W98 will NOT recognise NTFS natively so use FAT32 for compatability...

is it summer already ??? oh, its just the heat haze coming off my PC...
