Posted this in the CD/DVD forum, too. Upgraded my bro-in-law's IBM Thinkpad to Win2000 from 98 for stability. He likes to watch DVD movies on long business flights with it but a couple of weeks after installing Win2000 the DVD drive won't come out of PIO mode so the video's unwatchably choppy. I have it set to 'DMA if available' but it stays in PIO. Any suggestions?

did you check the BIOS settings?
