hi i was wondering if anyone knows much about if there is much of a difference between
these IPS monitors

asus

LG
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824005232&cm_re=ips_monitor-_-24-005-232-_-Product

or could i save some money because its gonna be a stretch if i can afford an ips. it may even mean waiting if id regret not spending 50 bucks extra or so for an ips.

here are the other ones i was looking at and am wondering if ips is really that much better then these

veiwsonic

samsung

The ViewSonic and Samsung you linked are LED-backlight TN panels. I generally recommend against LED backlights, since the blue tinge can actually make the monitors look worse than CCFL-backlit TN panels, despite being more expensive. RGB LED backlights are the exception, often outperforming CCFL backlights, but they're only available on professional level monitors which are usually VA or IPS anyway. A better TN model for price-comparison with the IPS models would be the Asus VH222H-P:

well iv seen the LED monitors and i really like them, but the question is if i save money by getting a 180dollar monitor as opposed to a 240 ips monitor would i regret not spending the little extra?

how big of a visual difference does the ips make

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/LG+-+IPS+Series+23%22+LED+Monitor/2031077.p?id=1218306466603&skuId=2031077#tabbed-customerreviews

or

the second one looked like it did more but the contrast ratio was much much better on the one from best buy. im not good at picking out monitors but wich monitor would you suspect is bet

and did i leave any alswome ips monitors out?

The difference between 5ms and 8ms should not be too substantial.

Which 24" Asus IPS monitor are you referring to? The only one I am aware of is the Asus PA246Q which uses a P-IPS panel (it's actually a renamed H-IPS panel) and it is rated at 6ms.

I have read several complaints about the build quality of this monitor from "monitor-philes" like myself such as a seemingly higher rate of dead or stuck pixels and backlight uniformity. However, "monitor-philes" (like audiophiles) are generally more critical about what may seem trivial to the average consumer.

i was reffering to the: ASUS ML239H Black 23 i posted the link above it cost roughly 229.00 plus tax.

so now iv narrowed it down to these if i go ips. would still love to know if the samsung such as this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6824001484 wich is not an ips if it is, just as good as a e-ips.

now iv excluded the one from bestbuy because its everwhere else alot cheaper.

im stuck between these 3 (if ips is the worth while move)

asus

LG

and,

also if there is a better one then all of these for under 300 please let me know.

I would disregard the 21.5" LG monitor since for only $10 more you can get the larger 23" Asus monitor.

The remaining Asus and LG monitors both use the same exact e-IPS panel which is manufactured by LG Display. Therefore, the visual quality for both monitors should be nearly the same, unless either one or both have messed up firmware.

Between the two, the LG's design looks better to me. It only costs $10 more than the Asus as long as you use the given promo code by 4/6/2011. Plus it has a DVI port (the Asus doesn't) which I prefer to use over HDMI since I have separate speakers.
