Like the previous poster said it depends on what model i3 and i5. Some mobile i5 cpus are just dual cores with hyper-threading where some are actual quad cores.

What kind of multitasking will you be doing?

Most of time the i3 laptops are cheaper then the i5 laptops. So for the extra 2 gigs of RAM and a cheaper price tag I would probably go with the i3 model. But again. It all depends on what models were talking about. If you have two specific laptops in mind throw them up on the board so we can take a look.
