Win 7 32 bit/win 7 64 bit upgrading ram

i have 1.5gig ram in computer now should i buy 2 1 gig ram chips and get
win 7 32 bit with ram at 3gig
or
get 4 gig of ram with win 7 64bit

you could get the 4 gig and use the win 64 but if you had memory to that 1.5 you already have check your motherboard first for the qvl list .

If that computer came with 1.5 gig of ram or less, then it must be pretty old. Check your manual to see what the maximum amount of ram it supports before getting more ram.

.. Less than 4 gigs, stick with win 32 bit.
.. 4 gigs Ram, For older system stick with 32 bit, Newer systems - toss up. With 4 gigs and 32 bit you will lose about a half gig do to 4 gig limitation vs 64 bit OS. If You have any old programs that have 16 bit code, they will not run under 64 bit.
