I recently installed a new hard drive on my Dell Vostro 1720 flat panel monitor. I re-installed Windows 7 Pro and it seems to recognize the big monitor as a vga with the highest usable resolution of 1024 x 768. Other available resolutions are 1600 x 1200, 1280 x 1024 and 800 x 600. How can I get 1920 x 1200 resolution. It was available before on the same computer and windows version.

You should go to the Dell support web page and enter in your service tag number which will bring up your computer. You will then see all the hardware that is included in your Dell computer and a list of the software and drivers available , so you want to look for the drivers for the monitor.
If you purchased the monitor seperate then you need to go to the Dell support web page and enter the model number of the monitor and get the drivers for it.

When you loaded Windows it loaded a generic Windows driver for the monitor and not the specifice Dell driver that would then show all the resolutions that the monitor is capable of.
