Ok guys,no flame wars please.I need to know which Amd cpu is the best bang for buck at the moment.I am currently running a T/bird 850@1gig on a KT7a but I cannot get it to go any higher.Is an axia the way to go?

yes... go with an axia, and more importantly a 133mhz board too so you can take advantage of the increased bus speed.

AMD chips run hot. The world is getting hotter. Therefore, AMD is causing Global Warming!

kt7a IS a 133mhz board, I would hit a axia or a ayjha (or whatever that new stepping is) in there and oc that mofo to 1.5 and beyond.

1.2c Tbirds are currently at $98 on PriceWatch. The lowest stepping you'll get is Avia (what I have, not too shabby), and you'll most likely get an Axia, Axiar, Ahjya, etc.

Or go to your local computer shop with the best deals on processors, and tell them you want to hand-pick it. They should be pretty obliging.
