Hey,

In my last post, I was wondering why my Athlon 1200c wouldn't run at 133 Mhz FSB, but would run at 100 Mhz FSB. So if I remember that Athlons have locked multipliers, and my chip works with a multiplier of 12x on a 100 Mhz bus, then it wouldn't be a 'c' type chip would it? It won't boot at 133Mhz FSB with a multiplier of 7.5 (or whatever) or other speeds. I was stupid not to check if it was a 'c' chip before I installed it, but I was too excited. So am I right in assuming it is a 100/200 Mhz FSB chip and tufshop sent me the wrong one?

Athlon multipliers aren't locked anymore. They used to be (simple to unlock them), but all the ones being made currently are unlocked.

I do believe that some are and some aren't, supposedly luck 'o the draw.

Besides, he didn't say it was new.

If you can set your softmenu FSB multiplier to anything other than default (in other words it's not grayed out),
then your multiplier is already unlocked.

If it works @12X100 then it could be either C OR B...no way for you to know for sure without looking at the die.

Sorry I can't remember your last thread...If it's a C it should boot @9x133 (after you change the multipler), But make sure your DRAM clock is not set to "HOST+PCI" or your ram will be trying to run at 166mhz....and that's kind of a
bootup killer.

I'm not in touch with my feeings, and I like it that way!

That's only because of some older ones still in circulation, as I've been told. All the newer ones I've seen are unlocked.

And you're right, he didn't say it was new.

Yes, it is most likely a locked 1.2GHz "B" You can try it at a lower mutliplier/same (100) bus speed to be sure. You can still make it run at "C" spec by unlocking it and lowering the multiplier.
