Corsair does the responsible thing by underrating its PSUs. Manufacturers like Rosewill, Ultra, etc overrate their products which is dangerous to the consumer.

i still only see 4 PCIe power connectors, so how does this help triple SLI? looks like you are still buying adapters.

Dont get me wrong, the TX750 is in my system and i love it, but that PSU is really adept for 2 cards only. It's also interesting to see that they are putting a 120mm fan on the TX850 when the TX750 has a 140mm. I wonder if these are going to be made by Channel Well Technologies as well.

No. Corsair dose this to ALL their products AFAIK. They do it because they are giving a safe consumer envilope. Like KyleSTL said, it's NOT a good idea to fully load a PSU to 100%. By having a 850W rating users are guaranteed 850W of clean power.

^ Similar to speaker ratings, junk companies list the Max rating on the product packaging, etc. Good companies only put the RMS in any kind of non-spec sheet material.

Each energy source has an output, the efficiency is maximum when the energy source is loaded at 86% -92% of capacity. If overloaded or under loaded has no yield.
