I have an IDT Win Chip with the following markings:

IDT WinChip
(c) 1997
Heatsink/Fan Required
3.52 Vcc (75 MHz Clock)
W2-3DEE225GSA
W2-225 MHz
X9852C

The guy I got it from says it is OK, but I am hesitant to put it into a motherboard and turn on the power until I am certain what I really have! All the info I've ever read about the IDT WinChip always refers to the "C6" designation.

Is my chip a "C6"? If not, what, exactly, do I have? I have a couple of motherboards which say they will accept an IDT C6, but I want to be sure before I try it.

Thanks for your help.

C6, meaning Cyrix 686, fits socket 7. Look for any aditional markings, I had a Cyrix set too high a core voltage and when it overheated it blew a circuite on two different motherboards. never seen any other chip that could do that. A lot of them were 3.5v IO, 2.8v core.
