What is a set up cartridge?

What is a set up cartridge? I read an article online, which said some printers come with set up cartridges.Does it have far less ink, than a regular cartridge.
I'm considering buying the the hp officejet pro 8100 eprinter.Do you know if this comes with set up cartridges or full regular ones.

You read correctly, some printers do come with setup ink cartridges. According to a description I read on the Staples web site the printer in question does ship with setup cartridges. HP printers won`t neccessarily print even in black when one or more colors are depleted.
HP s come with setup ink so you better have fresh ink carts in hand.

Setup also known as "starter" cartridges, contain less ink than regular ones. Keep in mind that some ebay sellers that seem to be selling some cheap ink are selling those starter cartridges so the cost per drop is the same or more than a full size cartridge. Read the size and description before bying.

I think you should ditch ink printers and get some laser jet stuff if possible.

Much clearer outputs and things won't deplete. If you don't print often, the ink

can get stuck too, which sucks. Plus there's the expenses of getting the ink;

laser doesn't have that problem.
