DVI-VGA vs. VGA-VGA

My monitor has VGA and DVI-D.

My motherboard has VGA and HDMI.

How do I get DVI to work? Do I have to get a converter or can I just use a DVI to VGA cable?

If you can find a DVI-D to VGA then use it but make sure it is DVI-D and not DVI-A or DVI-I.

I would go with a DVI-D to HDMI adapter or a DVI-D to HDMI cable.

inzone's suggestion is much better than mine. With the DVD-D to HDMI you will get a better picture on the screen. VGA would be a step down.
