Xp to windows 7 now does not boot

I changed my elitebooks operating system from some old xp or nt to windows 7 and now it seems like i have lost a very important if-you-want-to-boot.file

? From what I know what you typed doesn't make any sense. You can't "in place upgrade" XP to 7. You have to format/install from scratch. Which doesn't boot, XP or 7?

The easiest way to try fix it would be to backup anything important on your hard drive onto a desktop and then formatting your disk and installing w7 fresh
