Hello,
i have duel boot system with window 7 and ubuntu 12.10
i connect to internet through nokia mobile using serial cable. it works fine in ubuntu and used to work fine in window 7 also till last month. but now i am not able to browse internet in window 7. this shows connected but i am not able to open webpages despite using different browsers. network troubleshooting shows "DNS server not responding" error. i have tried ipconfig release ipconfig flush ipconfig renew etc. and resetting dns server address to google dns but to no avail. please help, i am getting frustrated.

i wonder if youre carrier is blocking dns. lets check. here is a list of websites by ip address. if you can input the address into a web browser and the site comes up, then that is youre problem. I dont think this is the problem, but lets check.

Have you tried reloading the software/drivers that you use to control the Nokia device through serial? These drivers can sometimes become corrupt.
