Ok
I have three computers connected with a D-Link 10/100
4 port switch,WinXP Pro on all three computers with
C-Net 10/100 NIC cards in all machines. Main computer
Set up with ICS. Asus a7v133-E,Asus A7V 133,PC Chips
Are the motherboards used. Now to the problem.
The 2 computers in the back can connect and run at 100
Mbps to each other, if I leave the main computer set
At 100 Mbps it freezes and is very slow if it works at
All. Now if I set it at 10 Mbps it will communicate and
Run just fine. I have tried 3 different switches and
hubs and swapped the NIC's around in the computers
And even tried different PCI slots in the main computer
I have had the cables tested, and they test just fine.
Any ideas on what could be wrong?
Thanks in advance.
How was the cable tested? As I understand it takes some VERY expensive test equipment to properly test cat5e. Ohming it out probably isn't good enough for high speed stuff.
I had a co-workers brother,who installs and
troubleshoots network cable,use his $4000.00 U.S.
tester. That's what he said the cost was.I am going
to pick up a new pre-made cable this weekend or
take the cable to the shop I deal with and hook it up
and see how it works on their network and go from there.
Oh just thought of one more thing: part of cabling considerations is it's routing, ie are you running that cable past some source of bad electrical interference.
