Little bit of background first:
I am going to be using these for daily use and some light gaming. As for the keyboard, I do not have a personal preference between mechanical or non-mechanical keyboards so both are going to be considered. I do like having macro keys for using in daily use as well as gaming, so a keyboard with macros would be preferred. The mouse, I prefer a wireless mouse just because of personal preference but I am not hard set on wireless. Looking for something that will last daily use, so good build quality.

Ok to the current items I am looking at:

Mouse: looking for under $150
Mad Catz R.A.T 9 http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003CP0BHW?tag=gamingmice00e-20
Note: reading online I have seen a lot of blogs about problems this mouse has been having, is this common or am I just reading from the few who get a mouse that doesn't work?

For the mouse.
1.The R.A.T. series is a hit or miss. Some people love it, some hate it. One thing I know for sure is that the build quality is marginal. I would not recommend it. My favorite is the Logitech g9x. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104261&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-_-pla-_-Mice-_-N82E16826104261&gclid=CL7IqLqvirUCFYF7QgodGjEA4Q
If you have patience, it goes on sale some times for $49.99

ALSO depending on your needs, wired is always better than wireless. In all games, wireless is worse. If you are looking at gaming mice(everything you linked is a gaming mouse) you always get wired. If you want a wireless mouse I would get a good wireless rather than a gimmick product.

Keyboard: looking for under $200

For the keyboard, honestly.....stay away from mad catz. They make sub par products that just look cool.
Mechanical is better than rubber dome also. 90% of people that try mechanical never go back. I recommend either the Corsair K90 or the cm storm trigger(made by corsair). I personally stay away from razer even though many like their blackwidow.

To conclude, if you get mechanical make sure you decide what type of keys you want. I have 2 keyboards, one for typing only and one for gaming only. I use a k90 for gaming and a filco for typing. Filco is arguable one of the best made, however they are hard to get, have no macro keys, and are expensive since they are not made in the U.S. (you are looking at almost $200).

Personally I dont know why you want to spend 200 dollars on a keyboard when the majority of the "mlg gaming" ones are under $150 and the quality typing ones are similar or less. Most of the time the expensive keyboards are not worth it.

Personally I would stay away from products that get either alot of 1 star ratings on sites or have alot of different problems. There are usually reasons why those are like that.

I was considering the G9X but i thought that the mouse looked really stubby and fat from the picture so I'm not sure how well it would fit the hand. It might just be my perception of the picture though.

I understand that for gaming wired is accepted as being better than wireless, but I was looking for a wireless mouse with that had minimal lag time. I currently use the logitech M305 on my laptop and that wireless mouse is very good and doesnt seem to have a noticeable lag time.

I've heard from most people that mechanical is better but personally I don't like a keyboard that makes a really loud clicking sound when I type. I know a lot of people like the sound of that, but it's just not for me so that's why I've been looking at mostly rubber dome keyboards even though they have a shorter lifespan.

I have 2 keyboards, one for typing only and one for gaming only.

I want to get 1 keyboard that I can use for both purposes.

Not saying I WANT to spend 200 on a keyboard, but I am WILLING to go up to that much to get a good keyboard.

Personally I would stay away from products that get either alot of 1 star ratings on sites or have alot of different problems. There are usually reasons why those are like that.

Depending on where you look, you find a lot of different opinions though. Sometime its hard to tell if the problems that people report are common or just flukes.

Thanks for the input!
