Dumb Q - what speed is my CPU?

I bought a new PC a couple of weeks ago and ordered and paid for an AMD Athlon 1200 (1.2c). When I last booted up, I noticed at the top of the screen the text "Athlon 900MHz".

I just ran a 3DMark2001 test, and the detail there listed the following CPU info:

Internal clock 909MHz
Internal Clock 1.17GHz

So, can someone tell me, have I been shafted? How can I find out exactly what my CPU speed is without opening the box and voiding my warranty (for what it is worth)?

Am I missing something here in my understanding of CPU speed?

2 things:

First, all Athlon 'C's will boot up with a FSB of 100. Change it to 133 in the BIOS and you're good to go.

Secondly, you can look on the top of the chip (you probably don't need to, but you can), to see what kind it is. At the end of the top line in the center of the chip will be a B or a C.

Thanks for this. My external clock is set at 100 instead of 133 in the BIOS. Don't know why the shop wouldn't have reset it themselves...

Seems I do have the correct CPU after all.

Yeah, they should have, but that happens sometimes I suppose. They probably put it together and never fired it up?
