Tribes 2 and P4

Well, I just found out that Tribes 2 is SSE2 optimized. Can anyone with this game and a P4 post some frame rates (and detailed system, detail settings, etc). Might be a way to see how much of a difference SSE2 makes.

Hold on, it was around here somewhere...

Ok, go to the console in-game (by hitting ~), and type in show("framecounter()");

Make sure you give us the map name, etc. since there's no set demo
Thanks, FUGGER

hrmm.. considering Tribes2 has no timedemo or anything (which really irritates me), it's hard to tell how your performance and tweaking are working, since framerates are so erratic in that game and largely dependant on the map and local environment.

Personally, at 1024x768x32, full shape detail and distance, 80% other settings, I get between 45 - 70 fps in the field with a Duron@1G / KT7 RAID / Ge2 GTS (low fog maps... framerate jumps dramatically in their 'optimized' foggy maps)

If T2 performs well with SSE2 optimizations, I may just have to go Intel on my next upgrade, since I play T2 almost exclusively and competitively.

I use 1024x768x32, all detail settings at high, and I pull between 30-70 FPS with my GeForce 2 MX. I think my card just likes that game though :)
1280x1024x32 with same settings is playable, but a bit jerky. I was pretty impressed when I went to put my resolution up to 1024x768 from 800x600 and realized that I was already at 1024x768.

Deto 14.41 and FSAA @ quint 3x3

WIndows 2K
1024x768x32 @ 100Hz pegged 99.1~100.6 FPS
1280x1024x32 @ 100 fluxuated 90~100 FPS

dependant on refresh of monitor it seems.

Win ME
1024x768x32 @ 100Hz was able to break 120's FPS but dipped into the 70's in heavy action.
1280x1024x32 still could hit 120's but dipped under 50 FPS at times in close combat fights.

Windows 2k was far better as far as playability and staying on your target. steady framerate is best IMO

looking at the replies you have got it seems tribes depends more upon the graphics card than anything else.

now if you could get a SSE2 optimised UnrealTournament... oooooo
