I have decided to try out the RC of Windows 7. I believe its build 7100 x64 version
It installed fine on my system, however my ethernet and sound hardware are not enabled.
I am running an Nvidia 680i motherboard with 2 gigabit connections
I have a 8800 GTS 640MB video card
I have an older creative live! gamer sound card
I am running the OS on a 32GB SSD with a 500GB storage drive
In what windows 7 considers device manager I have an unknown pci device and unknown audio device.
The audio device I can work on at a later time once I can connect to the internet
I am unable to find a driver for the ethernet however.
I have downloaded and tried
15.35_nforce_win7_64bit_international_whql.exe
15.37_nforce_win7_64bit_international_whql.exe
nforce_winvista64_15.08_english.exe
I clicked on the exe which installed fine and let the system reboot. When the system comes back up I still have the red 'X' on the ethernet icon in the system tray and I get the (not connected/no internet access/yellow exclaimation point.) when its clicked on.
Is there a specific driver I need to point to through the "Have Disk" option?
I have tried pointing to some of the installed drivers which are included with windows 7 with no luck.
Presently I am downloading files on my laptop and transferring them to my desktop through an 8gig stick
Any help?
I will check back through the day if any more information is needed.
