I currently have a 350mhz AMD K6-2 with 64MB of PC100 memory. How much of a performance increase would there be if I bought a system with an AMD Athlon 1ghz, 133fsb and 256MB of DDR-SDRAM. I play games especially car and flight simulators. Also I do word processing, listen to mp3s, and go on the internet.
By the way, the computer I have is a Compaq Presario 5070. I do not know what type of graphics card it has nor anything else about the computer. If somebody could tell where I could find this info, I would appreciate it greatly.
Your graphics card is a SiS 530. Your probably going to have to purchase a new graphics card, motherboard, case, quite possibly a enitre new system. Those type of systems tend to have heavily intergrated parts in them.
methinks you're right there...
the 620 is the external card, I think the 530 is the integrated chipset/video.
the 530 blows...
Independant thought is good.
It won't hurt for long.

Well considering my k6-2 500 completely blows my k6-2 350 into the reeds despite the fact the only main difference between the two pc's is the processor then I'd say if 150mhz can make that much difference and your going upto an athalon....well
Your nice new PC might be faster then my 286, but my 286 makes a better door stop

Drop in any K6 III chip, and you'll get a nice cheap 30% boost, and enjoy while you watch prices fall on bigger/pricer rigs. If price no object, go for it!
