which one should i get and which has the better warranty. I was thinking of getting it from newegg.com, but the retail version doesn't list the special stepping instructions that the OEM version does. Anyone know what i should do?

Retail has a longer warranty.
There is not much difference in performance between the two. Get the OEM because its cheaper, you could use the extra money to buy a better HSF.

I tried to organize some frequently asked questions, and although it didn't last long I think you'll find a number of links and old posts in the AMD FAQ
