Laptop to 120hz monitor question. Tags: Flat Panel Monitors Laptops Monitors HDMI Peripherals Breakfastbnet February 11, 2013 7:30:05 AM I have spent all day trying to find a monitor and find the answers for these questions but I can't seem to find out my specific question. I have a asusg73jh and I am looking for a monitor for it. I want to get a 120hz monitor but I read that HDMI can not transfer 1080p and 120hz. Only 120hz and 720p or 1080p at 60hz. My laptop only has USB, HDMI, and VGA ports. I was wondering if there is anyway to be able to use an external monitor at 1080p and 120hz with my laptop. (any type of adapters or new HDMI cables such as HDMI 1.4) I have found HDMI to DP or DVI but would that just bottleneck at the HDMI and only produce the weakest link? Thank a lot.
