I have had a couple of strange problems with Palm Desktop
for Clie, and my TG-35.
The first problem that I noticed was that Palm Desktop
wouldn't accept my password for viewing private records
(although it still worked on the palm), then I noticed
that my memos seemed to be put into random categories
in Desktop, but staying in the correct categories on
the handheld.
I don't use Palm Desktop for entering any data (in
fact I haven't really used it at all, except for
installing programs/docs on my handheld), but I
want to have a correct backup of the data on my pc
somewhere. Is it likely that the data is being held
correctly on the computer, but somehow displayed
incorrectly by Palm Desktop?
Since I noticed that this was happening I have switched
over to using pilot-link and j-pilot on linux (I hadn't
tried using them, or any other alternative programs
before I noticed the error) and they are working correctly,
but I would rather use the official palm desktop
if I can. Has anyone else encountered this problem?
Thanks,
Richard
PS. I don't synchronize any of the data on my palm with
any programs like Outlook.

Have you tried resetting the HotSync conduits so that the handheld
overwrites the desktop? (Make a copy of your user data first and store it
in a separate folder.)
If that works, you can then set the conduits to synchronize normally for
future HotSyncs.
