I recently upgraded my cpu. I have a Asus K7M (bios ver 1.0, 256k mem) and did have a 550mhz slot-a classic athlon. I installed a 900mhz thunderbird and now, don't laugh, my computer beeps. Everthing works fine, it just beeps inside the case. It sounds like a game of Pong! Does anybody know what gives?
Hmmm it could be that the board just plain isn't designed to support 900MHz--and even though it's working, the mobo is complaining about being pushed beyond spec?
I suppose it could be a heat issue also...
If it annoys you too much, I suppose you could try disconnecting the speaker--assuming there's no built-in speaker on the mobo.

I agree with killall. Because of the suddenly faster processor, the motherboard doesn't have to work as hard, so it plays Pong to pass the time. It's probably coding a sequel too. Make sure to share it will the rest of us when it's done.
That's the new "Satelite Tracking Beacon", or STB, designed into Slot A Thunderbirds. It mounts where the off-die cache used to. It is used to insure the safe crashdown of satelites into inexpensive computer systems.
go to your bios and check all your settings, particularly the one to do with temperatures and warning beeps.
also just check the temp your processor runs at, see if your getting any strange spikes due to a faulty probe.
make sure your voltage is set correctly too.
apart from that, i cant help you any further
