I have been using Norton Ghost for quite a while now to backup my winXP installs...Every now and then I would re-image the HD when things get a bit messy..

Recently one of my two HD has been acting up and I need to get it RMA'ed...So i tried to put a clone of my WinXP install on a different HD ie, not the one that the image was made from. The size of the partition used is the same and the image dump seems to work fine, except that I can't boot winXP. I get all the way to the blue screen, but where I usually would get 'welcome', i get a winxp logo and the boot process hangs...

if i do a clean install on the new HD, clone it and dump the image, the above problem does not occur, it only happens when i try to dump images that were originally on the old HD.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.
