32 bit vs 64 bit?

I recently completed my new build. I had originally bought an OEM 64bit windows 7 but a friend was able to get me windows 7 ultimate for free...
However, it is a 32 bit version ands I didn't realize that, will my system suffer from this?
specs:
2x4gb mushkin ddr3 1333 ram
asus p8z77 v pro
i5 3570k
700w cm silent pro
cm storm scout 2
asus dvd r/w drive

  1. Yes it will. You will need the 64 Bit version to recognize and utilize that amount of RAM. 32 bit can only use up to 3.5 GB RAM.
  2. 32bit OS cannot use more than 3GB memory. Use 64bit OS to use all of your 2x4GB memory
  3. so will that significantly affect performance or is 3.5gb plenty for most, (will be gaming mostly)

Don't use the 32. Free isn't worth it. Just get the 64 and quit worrying at it.
