i would like to buy a new laptop and I am thinking to buy Acer AS5742G i5 460M 500GB 6GB ddr3, nVidia GT420M 2048MB dedicated. will it decently run any new game? i'm not looking to obtain top performances, as i said, i wish i could decently play some games.

My son worked for Acer .... he'd advise against it :) 

I'd suggest an Asus or Clevo (150 HNQ or 170 HN) model .... but I have generally found that $1000 is the entry point for satisfactory gaming in a laptop at 1920 x 1200.

i'm not looking to play at such high resolution, i just want a medium resolution and a decent gameplay. :D  , i will take a look at the ones that you sugested
