better to oc by upping the fsb or by multiplier?

i have my system at 1440 w/ a 144 bus. Am i going to damage anything if i keep upping the fsb?

No, fsb overclocking is better, however your pci and agp devices, or ram, will hit a wall before your cpu.(most likely) a blend of the two is often the best way to go.

PCI overclocking can damage a hard drive, depending on the controller, although I haven't heard of that lately.
I prefer to overclock to a normal FSB with good dividers for the PCI, 100 to 133, 133 to 166, etc.
although currently my laptop is stable with a 40mhz PCI, so my stance may change... :)

Most PCI devices can handle at least 40MHz before causing errors. That gets you to 160 if your memory can take it, and provides improved performance over chnaging the multipliers.
