i thoguht that might get your attention. what chipset do you use with your Athlons right now and what speeds are your athlons? i heard so many conflicting things about so many chipsets. i hate via and all the patches that need to be installed, what is the closest chipset to an intel for the Athlon that is low maintenence and high performance. and what brand motherboard is the best one for the chipset you recomend?

repeat after me, we are all individuals!

I have VIA with tbird 1200c AXIA no-oc
I have only ever used via with AMD's and never had a problem
I am the head technician of a computer store that only sells AMD, and we are the only AMD certified store in the city
I am using the KT266 and i used to use the KT133 and never had a problem
Out of all the athlons and Durons I have built I have never seen one come back with problems except viruses...
We use MSI...... Master, K7T Pro2-a, KT266 pro
My point is there is nothing wrong with VIA

If you are using Windows 2000 SP2 you need no Via drivers. At best you may need the AGP Windows driver - but that will go for any chipset.

I have the KT133A A7V133 and it is a great system (well, it was until I killed it). Just waiting for the next thing, which may be KG7, A7V266, nForce.

Thank you Grizley
that is exactly my point everyone is flaming VIA
I have built well over 1000 systems in the past 2 years and never had a significant problem
and REPTILE the patches, lets figure it out. All of windows are optimized for intel
dont believe me..... go to defrag 98 users
INTEL OPTIMIZERS right on the bottom

Iwill KK266 (VIA 133A) w/ 1.0ghz @ 1.4ghz.
I had NO compatability problems, NO performance problems, and NO stability problems--only problems were Windows/Software (no surprise there).
