Ace's has published a comparison between 3 Dual Xeon 1.7 GHz boxes (DELL, Compaq, Fujitsu) and the dual-Athlon system.

AutoCAD 2000 benchmarks, a benchmark on a 3D engine which can spit out 107 Million polygons, the Maya 3/3DSMAx / Truespace/Cine4d 2000 benchmark, Chess benchmarks ...

Any experencies with Athlon MP system stability?

Not personally, but AnandTech has posted some remarks.

Aside from the special power supply, the Tyan Thunder K7 requires registered DIMMs. So far the best AnandTech has found are Corsair ECC registered DIMMs. Aside from that, AnandTech felt confident enough in their stability to put a 1u dual Athlon server in their server farm.

reading the article right now.

i have some concerns about the unevenness of the testing platforms (cant really be helped) as the MP athlon is not out for the public yet but
even so...
OUCH @ 2x1.2 spanking 2x1.7 in certain benchmarks.

i can just see my next computer being a dualie palimino :)

The the reported price cuts (The Register) for Athlon MPs, and the Tyan Tiger board coming out, there should be an increased use of MP in home users.
I personally wouldn't mind having a dual Athlon setup :)

im talking about the common pc market.
i see dual pentium boards commonly advertised, but not the thunder, nor the athlon MP.
then again... i have to admit this is a backwards country technologically

Since they are discussing commercial available rendering/cad systems, I wish they would have put in a http://www.sys.com/ kyrotech system (kyrotech system) in the fray. With the 1.4 showing up so often, an 1866mhz=13x143 could possibility take all the benchmarks. I guess cheating is not allowed and that would be another story anyways and you would have to include a 2.2 P4 to boot (or not boot).

Remember Athlon when it first came out. It wasn't commonly advertised either, and look what happened.

 Good or Bad have no meaning at all, depends on what your point of view is.

The Athlon Thunder not commonly advertised? It's on PriceWatch, been all all the tech news sites, been reviewed several times. What are you waiting for, a dead horse in your bed?

I can't tell whether that's the Thunder or Tiger. Didn't look closely though.

I lived in Australia for two years, and believe me it's not backwards.
