Hi :)

A data recovery company but they charge HUNDREDS....minimum...

All the best Brett :)

Paradoxically, when hard drives fail to work properly, I drop them on the floor and it fixes them. Other methods, far less expensive than the data recovery boys Brett points out can cost a fortune, include putting the disk in a polythene bag and freezing it overnight. Take it out and connect it to an already hot PC as quickly a possible and sometimes, contraction followed by expansion can help.

If this isn't a dislodged platter problem - and those are pretty rare - you might also try to find a circuit board from another identical drive and swap them over.

It's to early to declare data death at this stage. Does it make any sounds at all when it's supposed to be running?

I should have added that you need to take it out of it's housing for any of the above to work. The hard disk inside the pretty plastic shell might work properly if you connect it to your computer directly.
