what chipsets will the athlon mp work with (seeing as the amd762 looks almost exactly the same as the 760, does that mean that as a lone processor an athlon mp would run on an amd760 chipset? or most other athlon-compatible chipsets?)

I believe so. my Vp6 can run a solo celeron in it. So i believe it would.

hmmmmm, your answer confuses me.... if I'm correct your saying that a multi-processor mb will run a single processor just fine, if I'm correct by saying that then that wasn't my question (well, even if thats not what you were saying it still isn't my question ;]
ok.... heres my question, would an athlon mp processor work in a standard athlon supporting mb? (i.e. asus a7m266)

yeah, it will fine it will think its a Athlon 4 processor. More Power to you.
