Hello,

I have been looking for the past two weeks for a Full-HD monitor to replace my old CRT TV. I know absolutely nothing about monitors

I will use it entirely and solely for playing the PS3 on

I have been told that ASUS are my #1 destination and, as such, I have found these two monitors from ASUS

http://www.asus.com/Monitors_Projectors/VG248QE/

and

http://www.asus.com/Monitors_Projectors/VG23AH/#overview

Are they good to play the PS3 on? Or are there better alternatives (Even if from other brands)?

What I'm looking for is the following:

- 23~34 inch in size
- LED
- Full HD 1920 x 1080
- Can listen to the audio using headphones
- Adjustable (If possible)
- HDMI slot

PS: My budget is a maximum of 300$

You've linked two monitors in an entirely different class, OP. Also, is 3D important to you? You make no indication of that.

The first one can be considered an elite level gaming monitor. However, it uses a TN panel so color quality won't nearly be as good as your CRT. It has a 120hz refresh rate as well as extremely low input lag and response times (motion blur). Given that you will be exclusively gaming on ps3, 120hz is overkill as console games max out at 60 fps. The built in speakers are also subpar as they are only 2W. Overall, I'd say ignore this monitor for your purposes.

The second one however is limited to a 60hz refresh rate. This is just right for your ps3. Color quality is prestine on this monitor as it uses an IPS panel. Do note though that the input lag and response times (motion blur) are higher, though negligible. For your purposes, this monitor is much better imo.

I still think though that you can go with something better for cheaper.

This is quite a good monitor and it's only around $200. Best bang for your buck ratio imo. It has great picture quality and has low input lag and response times. Do note that it does not include ergonomic adjustments, no speakers, and no 3D.

If want something with those ergonomic adjustments, get the Dell:

It has slightly higher response times but is still a great monitor.
