After reading news regarding the upcoming support of DDR333 by socket A chipsets (Sis 735 and AliM1667 - Via will probably follow), this new speed grade seems to be the next step for socket A bus, as AMD will probably soon support it.

So, will the upcoming Palomino have versions supporting:
A) - 200Mhz
B) - 266Mhz (a given  )
C) - 300Mhz
D) - 333Mhz

What do you think? - A) and B), just B), B) and C)?

I think A) and B). We're not even close to utilizing the memory bandwidth provided by the current models when running many applications.

From this link: <A HREF="http://www.realworldtech.com/page.cfm?ArticleID=RWT081401002250" target="_new">Real World Technologies: Athlon 4 - The Newest Athlon?</A>

"... Will the Athlon 4 require a new Mainboard? AMD has stated that their goal is to have the new CPU work in existing Mainboards, so it should work with just a BIOS update. AMD lists the Athlon 4 starting at 1.3GHz and available in both 200 and 266MHz FSB speeds. 200 FSB support is listed for 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5GHz, while 266 FSB is listed for 1.33, 1.4, 1.533 and 1.6GHz. The Thunderbird core is only shown as going to 1.4GHz. ..."

Without CPU support, the chipset support of 333FSB is rather moot (of course that if they continue to be unlocked power users can take advantage of it). And the Sis 333FSB was shown on an event organized by AMD.

BTW - will there be under 1.4Ghz versions of Athlon4?
