Howdy! I'm building a new pc. Here are the specs so far. Is this gonna cut it and are there any conflicts in compatibility:
Athlon 1.4GHz cpu
Asus A7A266 mobo
IBM 75Gxp HD
Panasonic 16x DVD
Plextor 16x/10x/40x cdrw
2x256mb pc2100 ddr ram
coolermaster atc-200-mx aluminum case
sony sdm m51 flat lcd

thanks for the help

Great setup, but the HDD will probably be a 60GXP (that replaced the 75Gxp, mainly due to reliability problems).

Also, I would rather buy a sis735 based mobo. BTW, which sound card (if any) are you going to choose?

Finally, is there any special reason for choosing an LCD? (a not too good idea for gamers).

Cut it for what??? Web surfing and word processing???

BTW-don't get no crap-ass Sound Blaster sound card.

what about sound card and graphics card?

i suggest a kryoII, geforce2gts or geforce2pro.

good quality, but wont cost the earth.

go for a 60GXP instead of the 75GXP. newer, cooler & faster.

dont forget a decent powersupply. if you want to overclock 350 or more is recommended.

I'll respect your comments & opinions, even if i disagree with them, Provided you display maturity.

Go with a CRT monitor, better definition in my book but thats my opinion!

What HSF are you getting?

The A7A266 has built in sound and that is probably all the better he needs.

Does not look like a gaming/graphics machine without a good video card. That being the case 1400 ddr may be overkill. There is not much diff in price for the cpu, but maybe ddr ram and board could be cut to normal sdram and cheaper board. If you want gaming keep the ddr and get a good video card!

yeah I forgot about the soundcard and video card.
Video card I believe i was thinking a GeForce3, but I don't know what manufacturer.
As for sound card, the Guilemont Game Theater XP should do well with some Klipsch ProMedia 4.1s.
