P4 2.0 benchmark

Did the P4 prices drop again? With 2Ghz P4's and the P4X266 boards, the Pentium 4 is fast becoming a very competitive product.

Yes there been a month that we know that there cut price on 24.Still 512 for a 2.0 GHZ is really too much but 1.7 at 192 is pretty good to me and he only a little slower that T-bird 1.4.

US$512? Ouch.
AMD still seems to be in front in terms of price/performance but all those GHz must quite a selling point to the uninformed.

A clanmate of mine just shelled out about 600 bucks at a computer show today for a complete AMD system (parts).

-1.4ghz Athlon
-512 DDR
-ECS K75SA or whatever the hell it is.. with the SiS735 chipset
-Ge2MX (I dunno why he bought that pos)
-CD-R/CD-RW
-Case + 300w power supply
-30GB Maxtor HDD
-SB Live

I dunno about you, but I can't afford to pay 500 dollars for a processor alone. Well... actually I guess I could, I just wouldn't want to.

Why would you pay "a little more" ie 70 dollars more, for a chip thats "a little slower" than the cheaper tbird......juin you dont make sense?

[sarcasm]I wouldn't take anything serious that comes out of France or the French speaking people. Intel may have threatened France with increased CPU shipments to Germany if France didn't fix the benchmarks. After all, we all know how fast the French will bend over and surrender when a serious threat appears.[/sarcasm]

For abut $500 (or less) I can buy dual 1.4Ghz athlons with mobo. Interesting how fast would P4/2Ghz be compared to those?

Anandtech has the article online. Seems the AMD 1.4 still performs about on par with a P4 2.0, however, one might question the benchmark mix.. Im waiting for Aces' to benchmark them.
