Canon MX printer not using large black cartridge.

My Canon mx printer is using all the colored ink but not the less expensive large black cartridge. Almost all our printing is black and white. How do I change this?

We're assuming this is a new or fairly new cartridge here right?

Did this just start happening? Did you change any settings? If you set the printer to print in high quality or photo mode all the time, it can use a combination of all the inks to print black. Try setting the printing to monochrome or grey level.

I have the same problem with mine, I have an MP but it will not use the large cheaper black card when printing black and white. I cannot find any settings to change this. Yes I always change to monochrome from text
