Alright friends, I'm near the finalization of my pc system. As I sit here listening to Queen, I rattle off my choices as of now; and they are:
AMD 1.4GHz Athlon Tbird 266FSB
MSI K7T266 Pro-Raid
2x256mb some pc2100 ddr ram
Gainward CARDEXPERT GeForce3 PowerPack !!!
panasonic 16x/48x dvd/cdrom
Plextor 16x/10x/40x ide cdrw
IBM 60gxp 60.0 gb HD
Hercules Guillemot Game Theater XP
Klipsch ProMedia 4.1 speakers
Questions:
1)Are there any compatibility conflicts within this combo?
2)Whats is some good ddr memory and does ECC or unbuffered matter?
3)whats a good 21" crt monitor?
4)Suggestions on changes to make this a better gaming/chillin pc.

Muchas gracias

OK, ditch the 60 gig ibm, and get 2 30 gig ibm's instead(or 20 or 40 depending on best price/storafe) get the 60gxp model, then put them in raid 0 on your motherboard, BAM, instant 5%-10% performance increase, and no loss of storage space, with maybe 20 dollars more cost.

Thanks...what are the advantages to scsi though?
i know it costs more and a 30gig is pretty damn expensive.

I am sorry, but 2x ide drives in raid 0 will ALWAYS outperform a single drive in scsi, ADD TO THIS, the fact you can buy ALL of the ide components for less than the price of JUST the scsi harddrive. and if you included the controler card cost you could get 3x ide drives. ALSO, with the scsi setup, you have about 30 gigs of space, vs up to 180 gigs for the ide setup(3x 60 gig).
I am sorry, but cost/performance makes scsi inferior to ide raid.

How big is that monitor? I find the LG 995E 19" monitor to be high quality and the best value around if your on a budget =) I see the original specs say 21" so you may not be interested, but I wasnt sure how big the new one is...

HAHA K...Its worth it, I have had a 21" for years and when it dies itll get bigger. For anyone else reading the 995E is a great value, I have one on one of my other machines =)
