I have a 1.33Ghz t-bird and I have the voltage set down a little bit. I was just wondering what, if any, are the issues related to doing so. In other words, any problems or things I should know about. Oh, I'm doing it to lower the temp. a bit. Thanks

I saw no drop in cpu temp by running the voltage below spec. If you see no noticable drop, I would set it back to the default setting, even if your hardware monitor reports it higher then 1.75 (many are not accurate).

My temp dropped 2 degrees when I went from default to 1.7, if it isnt unstable lowering the voltage cannot hurt.

I have a 1.2AMD,100MHz FSB. Vcore at 1.55V CPU temp lowered
3 degreeds Celsius.I can't raise FSB over 104MHz.

Lowering Vcore reduces max clock rate and temps, nothing else.

lowering the voltage IS GOOD.
(to a certain extent)

less power = less heat = less stress on the processor, especially in boiling hot weather.
however if it is too low u may find it keeps locking up, especially under full load.

what i reccommend is to run a program like prime95 or seti@home and then progressively reduce your processors voltage.

run your PC at 100% capacity for 4 hours or more at each voltage setting. if it hasnt crashed by then u can be pretty sure its happy with that voltage.

my athlon 1200C had a set voltage of 1.75, which gives an actual voltage of 1.80.
at 1200Mhz i can run it at 1.80V, 1.75, and even 1.70.
however if i try 1.65 it locks up in a random fashion.

a reduction of even 0.05V can mean 2-5 degrees C off the temperatures, and thats gotta be good.

I'll respect your comments & opinions, even if i disagree with them, Provided you display maturity.
